What Is the Amrun Project?
The Amrun Project is meant to ensure that Rio Tinto’s Weipa bauxite mine can continue production far into the future. This is important because said mine produces 27 million tonnes of bauxite on an annual basis, thus enabling it to contribute $1.3 billion to the Queensland economy over the same period of time. As a result, it is no exaggeration to say that the Amrun Project is a cornerstone of the region’s economic well-being.
With that said, mining has some unfortunate consequences that must be managed well to ensure the continuing well-being of the stakeholders. Fortunately, Rio Tinto is serious when it comes to its responsibilities, as shown by its cooperation with local Aboriginals and Indigenous Australians as well as its continuing efforts to reduce its environmental impact.
How Has Ford Brothers Contributed to the Amrun Project?
Of course, no mining operation can succeed in reducing its environmental impact without the cooperation of skilled partners. This is why Rio Tinto chose Ford Brothers Fencing to install the security fencing for its process water pond, which is an important part of the system that enables the Weipa bauxite mine to produce its bauxite. Since process water can have such a serious effect on its surroundings when it escapes its intended confines, being entrusted with this task was a show of trust in our capabilities as fencing specialists.
In part, this trust came from the fact that we have contributed to numerous fencing projects for other mining companies as well as the Government of Queensland under similar circumstances. As a result, we understand our clients’ needs, meaning that we can satsify their fencing needs in an effective and efficient manner. Better still, we have a strong commitment to environmentalism of our own, meaning that we strive to minimize our own environmental impact so as to further our clients’ goals in this regard.
Those who need fencing for other fencing projects on mining sites should not hesitate to contact us at their earliest convenience. We want to make sure that our clients are as satisfied with our fencing projects as possible, which is why we will provide them with all of the information that they need to make the right choices for their operations. In this manner, we strive to please.
